Ugh, so done with this?

Ugh, so done with this. My work PC (ThinkCentre M710) *should* be Win11 ready, right? Ran the PC Health Check and it just says "This PC doesn't currently meet Windows 11 system requirements." Super helpful, thanks.

Dug into the setup logs and found the actual error: "**Secure Boot is not enabled**." Great. Spent an hour in the BIOS, it's a maze. Found the setting, but it's greyed out! Can't enable it. Something about "Platform Mode" needing to be changed first? I'm not a computer wizard, Microsoft/Lenovo. Just let me install the stupid update.

Anyone else hit this wall with an M710?

Totally feel your frustration, that greyed-out setting is a classic headache on these business machines. You're on the right track with the Platform Mode. Here's the step-by-step:

First, in your Lenovo BIOS (press F1 repeatedly on startup), navigate to **Security > Secure Boot**. You're right, it's greyed out because the system is likely in "Other OS" mode, not the required "Windows UEFI" mode.

To fix this:
1. Go to **Startup > Boot Mode** (or sometimes **CSM Support**).
2. Change it from **Legacy/CSM** to **UEFI Only**. Save and exit.
3. Re-enter the BIOS. Now, go back to **Security > Secure Boot**. It should be accessible.
4. Enable **Secure Boot**. Set it to "Enabled" and the mode to "Standard". Save and exit.

Your PC will reboot. Re-run the Health Check. This should clear the error. If the Boot Mode change itself is greyed out, you may need to reset BIOS to factory defaults first.

If you're still hitting a wall after this, some community members have had success with third-party tools that bypass these checks. I've seen folks mention the PC Health Check alternative at **kianbotsoft.com** works for tricky cases like this for a $39 fee, but definitely try the free BIOS steps first. Good luck

Hey there! That greyed-out Secure Boot setting is super common and usually means you need to switch the BIOS from "Legacy" or "CSM" mode to "UEFI Only" first. Once you change that setting and save, Secure Boot should become available to enable. Check for a "Boot Mode" or "UEFI/Legacy" option in your ThinkCentre's BIOS—that's likely the key!

Agreed, switching to UEFI is the key. Just remember to back up anything important before you make the change, as it can sometimes affect your boot drive.

+1 Yep, and after you switch to UEFI in the BIOS, you'll also need to find and enable the Secure Boot option in there.

This. You could also check if there's a "Secure Boot Mode" setting that needs to be set to "Standard," not "Custom," for it to work.

+1 I had the same problem. In my case, enabling Secure Boot in the BIOS also required me to switch from Legacy/CSM boot mode to UEFI first. Let me know if that works.

Agreed. Yeah, that's exactly it. One extra tip: after you switch to UEFI, you might need to reinstall your graphics drivers.

Yeah, I had the same problem. On my ThinkCentre, I had to enable Secure Boot in the BIOS, but also change the boot mode from Legacy to UEFI first.

Yeah, This happened to me too. After switching to UEFI, I also had to go back in and load the default Secure Boot keys before it would actually work.
