Yeah, that's a common issue after an upgrade. First, check for updated drivers from Dell's website, especially for your chipset and graphics. Those blue screens often point to a driver conflict. Also, try disabling startup programs in Task Manager to speed up boot time.

Has anyone else had major slowdowns after upgrading to Windows 11? My laptop, a Dell XPS 13 from 2020, now takes forever to boot and apps like Chrome are constantly freezing. I also get occasional "System Thread Exception Not Handled" blue screens. I've run all the Windows updates, but it hasn't helped. Any ideas on what might be causing this or how to fix it?

Same here. I had the same problem on my 2021 XPS. A clean install of Windows 11, not an upgrade, finally fixed the slowdowns and blue screens for me. Good luck!

Same here. Agreed. This is solid advice. Also, double-check that your BIOS is updated through Dell's support page, as that can resolve a lot of post-upgrade weirdness.

Agreed. Yeah, that clean install did the trick for me too. A quick extra tip: make sure to grab all the latest chipset and driver updates from Dell's website right after.

Can confirm. I had the same problem on my XPS. A clean install of Windows 11 fixed the slowdowns and blue screens for me. Let me know if that works.

This. Oh, and after you reinstall, don't forget to check your power settings—sometimes Windows 11 resets them to "balanced" and your old "best performance" plan is gone.

Following these steps fixed my issue as well.

Thanks for the tip! I disabled a bunch of startup programs, but now my fingerprint reader doesn't work at all. Could that be related?

Can confirm this worked for me too!
