I’m finally trying to upgrade my Windows 10 PC to Windows 11, but the setup keeps failing with error code 0xC1900101. My main worry is my files. I ran the backup tool, but it only saved a fraction of my documents folder. Has anyone else had backup issues during this upgrade? I don’t want to proceed until I’m sure everything is safely copied. What’s the most reliable method?

+1 You could also try using a third-party backup tool like Macrium Reflect Free to get a full image of your drive before troubleshooting the error.

Same here. Agreed, and also make sure any external antivirus is temporarily disabled, as it can sometimes interfere with the file backup process. Good luck!

Had the same problem. I had this issue last month. That error often pops up if a driver is incompatible. From what I've seen, the built-in backup can be hit or miss—I ended up manually copying my important files to an external drive and a cloud service just to be safe. Hope that helps.
