You could also try running the Windows Update Troubleshooter first, as it can sometimes resolve that specific error without needing a clean install.

Agreed, and a quick tip: temporarily disconnect any non-essential USB devices, like printers or extra drives, before you run the upgrade again.

Yeah, that's a good call. Also, double-check you have all Windows Updates installed on Windows 10 first—that often fixes it.

+1 I had the same problem. A system image gave me real peace of mind, since File History doesn't save everything like your installed programs.

Yeah, You could also try running the Windows Update Troubleshooter first, as that specific error can sometimes be fixed by clearing update corruption.
