Ugh, trying to upgrade my Dell Optiplex 7040 to Win 11 and hitting a wall?

Agreed. I had the same problem. On my 7040, I had to update the BIOS and then change the TPM from "TPM 1.2" to "TPM 2.0" in the security settings—it wasn't enough to just have it "On."

Agreed. Yeah, and after you switch it to 2.0, you might need to clear the TPM in the BIOS before Windows will see it properly. Hope that helps.

This happened to me. I had to clear the TPM from the BIOS security menu, not just enable it, before the upgrade would finally go through. Good luck!

You could also try updating the BIOS to the latest version from Dell's support site, as that often resolves TPM detection issues. Hope that helps.

Yeah, I had the same problem. My 7040 needed a specific BIOS update to fully enable the TPM for Windows 11, even though it looked on in the settings.

Did you also check if "Secure Boot" is enabled in the BIOS? That's another common requirement that can trip you up.

Yeah, and when you're in the BIOS, can you confirm the TPM is set to "TPM 2.0" and not "TPM 1.2"?
