If that toggle isn't there, try right-clicking the taskbar and see if "Taskbar settings" gets you to the right spot.

Yeah, that's the way to go. Also, sometimes just restarting Explorer through Task Manager can snap it back to normal.

Agreed, restarting Explorer often does the trick. One more thing—if it keeps happening, try creating a new local user profile to see if it's just a glitch with your current one.

Can confirm. You could also try running the Windows Start Menu troubleshooter from the Settings app under System > Troubleshoot.

Agreed. If that doesn't work, try restarting "Windows Explorer" in the Task Manager.

Also, you can try the classic "sfc /scannow" in an admin Command Prompt to check for system file issues.
