+1 Yeah, and if that doesn't work, you might also try temporarily disconnecting any non-essential USB devices before the upgrade.

Did you try temporarily disabling Secure Boot in your BIOS, as that can sometimes interfere with the installer seeing all the partitions correctly?

Same here. This happened to me, too. Turning off Secure Boot in my BIOS was the only thing that finally got me past that spinning circle.
