First, double-check that your BIOS is set to UEFI mode, not Legacy/CSM—Secure Boot only works under UEFI. Can confirm. I had the same problem. For me, temporarily disabling the Ubuntu bootloader and letting Windows manage the startup fixed the upgrade.
